Documentary Drying For Freedom launches website

Currently in development with WL:DOCS, DRYING FOR FREEDOM which explores the environmental, political and social impact of washing lines, launches a new production website.

It is the year 2009, and Washing lines are banned.

More than 19% of the United States population are currently living in communities run by Home Owners Associations (HOA). The HOA insures handsome property prices and general upkeep of its community by enforcing particular rules and regulations, which if not followed can lead to fines, legal action or even foreclosure on your own home. One of the most common rules set down by these controlled communities is the banning of drying washing on one’s own lawn. It is suggested that the garish site of laundry blowing in the wind is something the fellow residence prefers not to bear witness to, and it is much more suitable to be kept out of sight. On top of that it is thought it could damage the reputation (and thus the property value) of the neighbourhood.

Both the project and the documentary can be accessed at www.dryingforfreedom.com
