Drama Director, Rob Brown, has won the BEST DRAMA award at the BBC Big Screen Film Festival.
Film Critic Mark Kermode, who judged the competition, described Open Skies as, "Handsomely composed and hauntingly simple. An effective use of light and colour to distinguish between time periods and mood tones adds to the resonant visual atmosphere. Lara Belmont's expressive face benefits the overall picture greatly."
In the short film a mother takes her boy to the beach and shows him beautiful things. At sunset, she falls asleep on the sand. When she opens her eyes her child is gone. Now everything which was once beautiful becomes threatening as she searches for her missing child.
It was a second win for Rob and his award for the mysterious short Open Skies now shares his mantelpiece with his award for Family Portrait which he won in 2006.
The film will be released to festivals throughout the year.
