Members of the public are invited to take part in a new heritage project exploring the history and memories of our iconic Bournemouth Pier.
OUR PIER launches this weekend at Aruba bar and restaurant at Bournemouth’s famous Pier Approach. Organised by local film production company, White Lantern Film, the project explores the history of Bournemouth Pier and members of the public are invited to come along to Aruba between 11am and 2pm and tell the White Lantern Film team their pier stories.
The film’s producers will be at Aruba looking for stories which can be included in the OUR PIER DVD. “We are looking for anyone who has an interesting story about the pier to come down and tell us” says Dan Pringle the project coordinator.
“We are looking for strange, epic stories of people falling in love or visiting Bournemouth Pier every year, we want to know what the pier means to you” comments Dan, “whatever your story is, let us know!”
The project is supported by the National Lottery Heritage fund and is one of the biggest projects of its kind to ever be supported in the area. All the memories gathered will be featured on the OUR PIER web site at www.ourpier.co.uk where you can also contact the team, upload your own video memories of our famous landmark and find out about future events.
The OUR PIER DVD will be in production next year and will bring to life the most popular Pier memories “we will be holding a vote later in the year to decide which memories should be brought to life” Dan comments, “just come down and meet us to find out how to take part in OUR PIER and tell us your memories”.
