Bournemouth based film production company White Lantern Film wins the top prize at the renowned Business Plan Challenge Awards 2007.

The Bournemouth based Screen Academy “Arts Institute at Bournemouth” presented White Lantern Film with the top award in their annual competition for outstanding business acumen. With over 40 entries from regional businesses, the awards panel judged the White Lantern Film business plan to have all the ingredients, detail and strategy for a highly successful business.

Panel judges were drawn from a range of successful businesses and consultants including Dorset Business, Business Link, the Arts Institute at Bournemouth and the South West Regional Development Committee. Receiving the award Managing Director of White Lantern Film, Adam J Merrifield, commented: “this is an enormous honour for White Lantern Film, to have our plans and strategy judged by our colleagues ensure that White Lantern Film continues its exceptional growth on its way to the Oscars!”

Presenting the award, Matt Desmier, Enterprise Pavilion Manager, commented: “I’m delighted for the winners... It is vital for the South West that we nurture business development and urge businesses to set up and stay in the region... I am very proud that the Enterprise Pavilion continues to play a key role by nurturing and supporting new businesses...”.

The award is an exceptional end to a highly successful year for White Lantern Film which has grown dramatically over the last 12 months. The business is now focusing on its romantic movie CIRCUMFERENCE (www.circumferencefilm.com) and a feature length documentary ONLY INHABITANTS (www.onlyinhabitants.com) following Bedouin families in Israel, among many other exciting projects. White Lantern Film recently premiered Pier Pressure (www.whitelantern.co.uk/pierpressure) 3 Media-Box funded films made by under 19’s to 1000 strong audience securing the company’s future as the region’s leading media in education provider.

The awards were hosted by BBC ‘The Apprentice’ winner, Tim Campbell and owner of RTL Games and Dragons’ Den contestant, Rachel Lowe. The awards were sponsored by the South West Regional Development Committee (SWRDC), Marketing Matters, Lee Fitzgerald Architects, Dorset Business and Poole, Bournemouth and East Dorset Borough Councils; all are keen supporters of building creative businesses for the region.
