We are always looking to work with new directors. If you are a talented emerging director who has already had experience working on short documentary's and / or have broadcast credits (excluding Propeller TV) then we would like to hear from you.

We are particularly interested to work with directors who have programme ideas for Channel 4's high profile 3 Minute Wonder slot (broadcast Monday to Thursday at 19:55). We are looking for ideas which are current, reactive and possibly linked to external events. The subject should stand out in the Channel 4 schedule, characters must be strong and social issues should be approached in a light way. The series consists of four 3 minute films linked thematically to create a collection of intelligent, provocative and individual films.

The slot is only 3 minutes so it needs to be simple – only a few strong characters so that the viewer feels that they have met and engaged with someone. There needs to be a narrative journey which can be understood in one episode and work coherently throughout the week. 3 Minute Wonder should feel current and anticipate social change. BUT they are not just looking for films on serious topics, light and humorous ideas will usually be a rating winner!

If you would like to speak to us about 3 Minute Wonder please email Adam J. Merrifield on adam.merrifield@whitelantern.co.uk

If you have an idea for a feature length documentary which features strong stories following one or two people as they enter an emotional situation where something is at stake, where their lives are changing, or where they are at a crucial point in their lives, then let us know. It’s important that your idea has strong characters who are happy to have their lives filmed and broadcast and can offer exclusive access. We enjoy developing thought-provoking documentaries, which offer a gripping story and touch upon wider themes in our society. No subject is too challenging but stories must be engaging and moving, giving an intense and intimate experience.
