tim clague

Tim Clague is an award winning and BAFTA nominated scriptwriter. He is passionate about new forms of script structure with each new project seen as an opportunity to explore new techniques gathered from a variety of influences. It is this approach that has seen him work with RKO Pictures (New York), Working Title and ITV.

He was winner of the Jerwood Film prize (UK) in 1998. The script was made into a short film, "Eight", by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot / The Hours) at Working Title and was shown in all Warner Village cinemas across the country over Christmas 1998. It was nominated in the Best Short Film category at BAFTA and received good press from Time Out, The Guardian, The Times, Total Film and BBC TV. The mainstream audience connected with this film in a way unheard of in shorts with repeat screenings booked in for weeks afterwards following high demand.

Since then Tim has also moved into the role of writer / director and his first film, “Consecration” being nominated for David Althsul Award. “Wimborne Road – Is It Too Long?” – a road movie documentary on foot was broadcast on ITV in December and used techniques from computer interface design in broadcast TV. “Weight of a Wall”, an animation won the “Special Award for Innovation” and his follow up animation “Hope” was premiered at the Edinburgh film festival.

Tim is a passionate supporter of short films and has given lectures at Universities and BAFTA on writing for shorts. This is after being inspired by helping David Yates (Harry Potter 5) run similar workshops. His future plans include teaming up again with Whitelantern films to write and direct the feature film Circumference – the World’s first feature film to be 100% funded by the selling of integrated adverts.
